It seems like every time I turn around, my TV cable provider takes away a channel or two and moves it to a digital level line-up. About a year ago, they took away CMT (Country Music Television) and then, about a half-year or so ago, they took away GSN (formerly known as Game Show Network). Now I have received a notice from them that they're moving at least another half-dozen channels to their digital line-ups. These channels include Ion, G4, Oxygen, MSNBC, Tru TV (I think this is the channel formerly known as Court TV) and The Hallmark Channel. That's the bad news...which isn't really all that bad since I've rarely watched any of these channels with the occasional exception of G4. The good news is I can get a cable box from them and get their Digital Starter package for a year at no increase in fees above what I'm already paying. What this would add to my available channels would be the channels I mentioned above plus GSN. I'd also get one or two other channels, Video On Demand and some music channels (not music videos, just audio music with a slide showing what's playing). So now I am considering getting that cable box and keeping those channels (and getting GSN back) since it wouldn't cost me anything additional...at the least, I could then cancel it a year from now when they would jack the price up. I might keep it anyway since I gather the increase in fees really isn't all that much. So maybe I'll give them a call tomorrow...

Maybe.
